CardGames.io is a game site focused on classic card and board games. Our goal is to make great versions of the games you already know and love in real life. We try very hard to make the games simple and easy to use, and hope you enjoy playing them as much as we enjoy making them 🙂.

I'm not going to be doing rules reviews or the basics in my podcasts. I'm going to be focusing on strategy for players that are new to the game but have played other 18xx games.

Abstract Games magazine ran for 16 issues, as a print publication, from Spring 2000 to Winter 2003. The new series is beginning where the old left off, with AG17. We will cover a variety of new abstract games and continue to investigate some classics.
[…]
The format of the first series was print only. The new series will be web published, and freely available, although hard copies may be ordered through print on demand. The old Abstract Games magazines are available for download for personal use, and print copies still may be purchased. Both the old and new series of magazines exist on the web and as physical artifacts.

This blog deals with history, board games and history in board games. Besides articles about the representation of specific events or broader concepts of history in board games you will find small essays on history, strategy tips for games, thoughts on game design and the occasional event-related (fairs, conventions) post. Do not expect too many game reviews (although I might put up one every once in a while). While the blog does not limit itself to specific periods of history, my research as a scholar has been focussed on the Cold War, so this era will come up more often than others.
Highlight: The Cold War in Board Games -

The Gaming Moguls are Mark Teskey and Jake Klopfenstein – a couple of hardcore omni-gamers from the Minneapolis, MN area […]
Currently, Mark prefers heavy Euro games, financial games, 18xx, imported Japanese games, Oink games, print-n-play, 3d printed gaming accessories, and blinging out his games. […]
As it stands now, Jake likes financial games, 18xx, light weight filler games, medium-heavy Euro games, war games, and Splotter games.

The Train Rush is a short form podcast, typically running 30-45 minutes in length, where your hosts discuss a single ‘train game’ they have played in the preceding fortnight.
Focusing primarily on 18XX titles but also encompassing related games, when sufficiently compelling!

We are a podcast about board games. We sometimes say naughty words, but our hearts are in the right places. His is over there in his chestal region and mine is here in mine. That is all.

Do you like rolling dice? Do you need little wooden cubes in all your games? Do you like giving people crap for taking their cube pushing so seriously? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, this is the podcast for you! We talk about our thoughts and reactions to games, as well as topics within the hobby. We love talking about amazing experiences that games have made for us. We also do not shy away from the not-so-glamorous moments in games (like that 4 hour game of Dominion that made you swear off playing with THAT guy). We have a blast shooting back and forth opinions.
-
The Long View is a podcast that is dedicated to providing a unique perspective of the board game hobby. Games are discussed in depth after many, many plays so that reviews provided are more than just impressions.

The Punching Cardboard Podcast is a twice-monthly podcast emanating from a dungeon somewhere in the hipster wasteland of Portland, OR. We cover mid to heavy weight Euros with some omnivorous consumption of American style and war games to keep things interesting! And train games. Big economic train games. Beware, we have opinions and aren't afraid to use them.
